ADDITION OF WEST HOLLYWOOD LOCATION
Iconic Japanese soul food restaurant celebrates newest establishment
in West Hollywood; continues extensive ramen culture expansion on West Coast

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (August 15, 2019) –IPPUDO,the international restaurant that created a
distinct ramen culture in Japan and across the world, has announced its expansion in Southern California
with a new location opening on Thursday August 30. The restaurant, located in the heart of West
Hollywood at 8350 Santa Monica Blvd., will begin its grand opening celebration at 11a.m., offering a
complete menu of Hakata Tonkotsu ramen, izakaya-style dishes, wine, beer and premium sake. The West
Hollywood location will extend IPPUDO’s West Coast footprint as the fourth location in the state—
offering a unique dining experience to even more California ramen enthusiasts.

IPPUDO was founded in Japan in 1985 by Ramen King Shigemi Kawahara, crowned after becoming a three-time consecutive winner of the popular Tokyo TV show “TV Champion – Ramen Master Chef Championship.” Beginning as a small ramen house with just 10 seats, IPPUDO revolutionized ramen culture with a traditional yet inventive approach that established the restaurant as a global leader in Japanese soul food more than 30 years ago. Now, more than 10 years after its first stateside location, IPPUDO is continuing its expansion throughout the U.S. and plans to open nearly 300 locations internationally by 2025, many of which will be domestic. Most importantly, IPPUDO will put a heavy focus on spreading the love of ramen throughout the world while remaining true to its principle of spreading smiles and ‘Arigato’ (gratitude) as this is the source of IPPUDO’s ‘omotenashi’ (hospitality).

The West Hollywood restaurant will offer patrons a first-class menu created around its authentic Tonkotsu pork soup, which is intricately crafted with a signature recipe and handmade noodles. Each savory bowl of Shiromaru, Akamaru and Karaka ramen are made by IPPUDO’s artisan chefs and starts with an original, creamy Tonkotsu broth that is brewed to perfection for 18 hours. In addition to an assortment of traditional pork ramen selections ranging from classic to spicy, the restaurant will also offer non-pork, and vegetarian options including Shiro and Aka ramen – all inspired by the same bold, sophisticated flavors IPPUDO is known for.

IPPUDO West Hollywood will serve an extensive menu of Japanese-style tapas dishes, such as the famous steamed buns and Goma Q, a refreshing dish of cucumbers seasoned with IPPUDO’s original sesame oil sauce. Guests will also enjoy a carefully curated list of beer, wine, sake, and shoyu and sake cocktails.

“Marking the continuation of our journey along the West Coast , the opening of the latest restaurant gives us great honor to bring IPPUDO’s extended menu of Japanese soul food to even more people in the U.S.,” said Tomoyuki Yamane, Director of Corporate Strategy for Chikaranomoto, parent company of IPPUDO. “We hope this location will serve as a catalyst for local guests to explore new tastes and authentic flavors and allow us to serve them as a ramen shop born from a foundation of quality standards.”

With the opening of each new location, IPPUDO strives to bring a recognizable character and distinct atmosphere into every one of its restaurants. Providing a true neighborhood feel, IPPUDO West Hollywood will boast an intimate patio with seating for 24 guests as well as 41 interior seats. Additionally, the location will offer intricate décor elements, such as a large rope feature that will hover over guests dining at the main table, blending together Southern California flare with traditional Japanese décor.

The artisan ramen destination will be operated by I & P Runway, a partnership between Chikaranomoto and Panda Restaurant Group. IPPUDO West Hollywood will hold a grand opening event on August 30 with free gift and food giveaways for the first 100 guests in the door. Doors will open at 11am.
