in Silicon Valley; continues extensive ramen culture expansion on West Coast

CUPERTINO, Calif. (February 7, 2019) – IPPUDO, the international restaurant that created a distinct ramen culture in Japan and across the world, has announced its continued West Coast expansion with a new location in Cupertino. The Cupertino location will open on Friday, February 7at 11am with a ribbon cutting celebration hosted by the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce, traditional Japanese Taiko drum performance and giveaways for the first 100 customers. The restaurant, located at 19540 Vallco Pkwy., will offer original ramen along with six new menu items that were recently introduced at the West Hollywood location. The restaurant will also offer a special $10 ramen promotion from Friday, February 7 to Sunday, February 9, 2020.

Commemorating more than 30 years since first opening and over 10 years since its introduction to the U.S., IPPUDO will now bring its world-renowned offerings to Silicon Valley. IPPUDO was founded in Japan in 1985 by Ramen King Shigemi Kawahara, crowned after becoming a three-time consecutive winner of the popular Tokyo TV show “TV Champion – Ramen Master Chef Championship.” With humble beginnings as a ramen house with only 10 seats, IPPUDO is known for revitalizing ramen culture with an authentic yet signature approach that has led to its position as a global leader in Japanese soul food. Today, IPPUDO is continuing its expansion throughout the U.S. and plans to open 600 locations worldwide by 2025, many of which will be domestic. Most importantly, IPPUDO will continue to put a heavy focus on spreading its values throughout the world while remaining true to its principle of spreading smiles and ‘arigato’ (gratitude) as this is the source of IPPUDO’s ‘omotenashi’ (hospitality).

The Cupertino restaurant will offer guests a first-class menu created around its authentic Tonkotsu ramen, which is intricately crafted with a signature hearty pork bone broth and handmade noodles. Each savory bowl of Shiromaru, Akamaru and Karaka ramen is made by IPPUDO’s artisan chefs and starts with an original, creamy Tonkotsu broth that is brewed to perfection for 18 hours. In addition to an assortment of traditional pork ramen selections ranging from classic to spicy, the restaurant will also offer non-pork, gluten-free, and vegetarian and vegan options including Shiro and Aka ramen – all inspired by the same bold, sophisticated flavors IPPUDO is known for.

“As our first location in Silicon Valley, IPPDUO Cupertino brings us great fortune and allows us to introduce IPPUDO’s extensive menu and ramen culture to more guests on the West Coast,” said Shigemi Kawahara. “Marking the continuation of our journey through California, we hope this location will give the community of Cupertino the ability to explore new tastes and authentic flavors and allow us to serve them with our style of ‘arigato’ and high-quality standards.”

This new location will serve an extensive menu of Japanese-style tapas dishes, such as the famous steamed buns and Goma Q, along with new dishes such as Gyoza and Tebasaki Chicken Wings. Guests will also enjoy a carefully curated list of beer, wine, sake and shoju cocktails.

IPPUDO’s newest restaurant, which seats up to 64 people in the 2,200 square foot interior space, will bring a feeling of Japanese culture and soul to Silicon Valley by delivering a fine dining experience different from any other location. Its stylish, sophisticated and cohesive interior will feature unique design elements with its large rope feature that will hover over guests as they eat – blending together California flare with traditional Japanese décor. With the Cupertino location, IPPUDO continues to bring unique character and personal atmosphere into each and every one of its restaurants.

IPPUDO Cupertino will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
